According to the American Association of Orthodontists, children should have an orthodontic assessment by the time they are age 7.
Most orthodontic patients start treatment between the age of 9 and 14. Some early signs your child may need orthodontic treatment:
- Losing baby teeth too early or too late
- Excessive mouth breathing
- Problems speaking, chewing or biting
- Thumb sucking
- Abnormal bite
- Crowded teeth
- Teeth grinding
